Shulk sat at the desk, really unsure of his place in the world. Yes, it was in a more public place in the California streets but Shulk didn't have much else to do. The Monado was on his back, the red metal not really standing out as a weapon. At best, in its current state, it looked less dangerous than a bat so no one even questioned him on it.
The engine in front of him took up most of his attention. Earning money to live was important and this is what he was exceptional at. Fixing machines. He could understand this but was awed by the magnificence of Hom society. Part of him wished he grew up here where Homs lived securely and in prosperity. But he didn't regret a moment in his life.
There was a moment where he lost focus though. It was dangerous but he was granted a foresight into the future. A girl walked near him. Someone he felt he should call out to but in his vision, he didn't. That ultimately resulted in utter destruction of everything around. The future...it could be changed. Even he understood that. So when he looked up and saw that very same girl, he called out. He would avert that disaster.
"Uh...hullo."
For being in California, he had such a British accent.
"Could I help you with anything?"

Don't know a joke when you hear one?
Anyways, how soon... Ah, we better discuss this somewhere more private. That's unless your vision is going to happen sooner than I think.
[She makes a gesture with her hand, to tell him to follow her.]
Now, library, the usual cafe...??

[He set his tools down and left his spot. If he ever came back, he'd probably get in trouble but he could always just go somewhere else. This world seemed big enough for that.]
I actually prefer libraries though. Nothing helps like a good book.

[She raises a finger up... Sets it down. Look, it's basically all the dubiousness here.]
I'm... not supposed to know that, am I?

Oops, I just said it.

[Yeah, she be judging]
Well... I guess I can help... I mean out of the endless possibilities and endless worlds and endless seas of sentient beings, you apparently need help from me...
[She can't deal]

[Sighing a little bit.]
I don't know how useful I'm going to be in this world either way. Everyone here is a Homs and the Monado doesn't harm Homs.

[What a confusing sentence...]

You, me, and everyone else in sight is a Homs. Homs are a race of sentient beings.
The Monado is the weapon on my back. [Point at the red, sword looking thing he has hanging there.] It has a lot of powers but harming Homs isn't among them.
Does that help?

You might want to use that instead so people don't give you weird looks.

[Oh yeah...]
Hey, we don't even know each others names yet. That's silly.

You can call me Lien.

Well, let's just head to the library. It's quiet and we can avoid people more easily.

[That's probably a good idea. Cause you just don't know how much he might know.]

How long do you think your stay here is going to be??
