Rin kept up, being plenty athletic herself. She peeked around the corner and saw the transformation. She wasn't entirely surprised. They were, after all, in a palce where magic wasn't too uncommon. Not to mention that Rin herself was heavily into magic. She was mostly surprised that Mami would keep this from her. It wasn't really a breach of trust but her heart did twist a little at the thought.

Mami had no idea she was being followed. She would never think Rin would do such a thing. After all, she had no idea Rin was into dangerous things herself. With her transformation done, Mami headed to the entrance to the Barrier.

To a normal person it was probably just a strange feeling spot, but to Mami, she could see the way it wavered in the air, holding something dangerous inside. Perhaps even Rin would notice it from her hiding spot.

Getting ready to go inside Mami summoned a ribbon, a yellow length that flew into the air and solidified as one of her rifles. She was going in.

Rin could understand guns. Her own favored magic spell essentially turned her hand into a pistol. A overly powerful magical pistol but one nonetheless.

She managed to keep herself silent, not quite at the point of casting magic to hide her presence. It seemed Mami was too into what she was doing to pick up on anything just yet.

Finding the entrance to the barrier, Mami did a quick look around and entered into it, taking a deep breath. Taking out a witch, it was the job she had to do. She wished she could explain what she did to Rin, but she knew that the girl would never understand.

Inside, Mami found herself in a giant play area, filled with bright colors and moving toys. Toy soldiers, jack in the boxes, wooden trains running every which way. It was surreal, as it always was, but Mami was experienced. She knew to keep her weapon with her, ready to fire at anything that attacked.

It's not that she wouldn't understand. It's just that she'd have issues trying to parse where the benefit would be. Rin did think in terms of profits and costs, so certain things had to be justified for her. Now, of course, she was compassionate in a way. It was just extremely hard to tell unless there was an emergency.

But she was familiar with something like this, in a way. It seemed a lot like a reality marble that one could willingly walk into, which was odd. She watched, hoping to learn more about how things went in this other world like area.

Things didn't stay very quiet for long, seeing how the witch much have recognized the intruders. Mami blew away a few of the toy soldiers, breaking them into pieces as they rushed her with their speared rifles. Mami was calm, but she wasn't taking chances. She heard something behind her and whipped around, throwing her arms out to the sides and summoning another set of rifles in the air, only to see a familiar face.

"Tohsaka-san?!" That was the last thing she had expected to see in a witch's barrier, her friend, someone she didn't think had any magical ability. "How did you get in here, you have to get out!"

"No, no, keep doing what you're doing. I'm fine."

For all this action, Rin was certainly very nonchalant about the whole thing. And didn't feel a need to explain. After all, it looked like Mami was a bit too busy to take in whatever story the magi had to tell.

"What are you talking about? It's dangerous here!" As another wave of soldiers pressed in on them, Mami turned to summon more rifles blowing the toys away, trying to keep themselves from getting surrounded. Mami was strong, but protecting someone else had now become her top priority, meaning she had to find some high ground to keep Rin safe.

"Just stay behind me, I will make sure to protect you!"

"Are you even listening to me? Worry about yourself or you're going to end up getting hurt."

Of course, Rin was missing the obvious part of the fact that she could take care of herself. And Mami didn't know that. Her words probably sounded completely stupid but Rin wasn't quite aware of that yet as the action happened around her.

"It's fine, I can handle this." More and more and more and more rifles came into existence lining up on both sides of Mami. She held her hand high, turning back to smile a little at Rin,showing her that she had things under control.

Bringing her hand straight down she signalled her rifles to fire, sending a volley of shots at the incoming toy soldiers, completely decimating the battalion. Mami might be worried that she had to watch out fo Rin, but she couldn't help but show off a little.

"Now that those are dealt with... what are you doing here Tohsaka-san?"

Rin is a little impressed. But not the type of impressed that would come from amazement at finding out magic is real.

"I just was following you and catching you in a lie. That's all."

She should be more impressed, Mami would have thought, but then, this was Rin, she never really saw her that excited about much aside from money.

"You know this is dangerous right? You can get really hurt here. This isn't a game." Rin, magic is real, and dangerous, get with the program. The amount of worry that Rin was showing was really worrying though, was Rin thinking this was all a dream or something?

"What makes you think I don't know what I'm doing? It's not like I was keeping a secret or anything like some people around here."

Yes, she was totally keeping a secret. But hypocrisy never applied to Rin at all so she let it fly out of her mouth with ease.

"Tohsaka-san...you have to listen to me. This is a Witch's Barrier. If you stay here for too long you can get really hurt. You have to trust me." More enemies closed in, forcing Mami to pop a small pistol into her hand, popping it off at the nearest toy. At the same time, a giant shadow seemed to be moving across the playroom, like something big was coming..

"You're the one not trusting me. I said I could take care of myself so just go with that."

Rin didn't hesitate to step up on her tip toes so she could look past Mami and see what was heading their way. No danger here at all.

"That's because I don't want you to get hurt. It's not easy to tell someone about magic either." Mami tossed away the useless weapons as they are fired, summoning more in their place.

"That much be the witch..." Looking back at Rin Mami did the only thing she could think to do, summoning strand of ribbon to tie Rin's hands together, and hold the other end in her own, that way she could keep Rin on a short leash, so to speak.

Rin stared down at the ribbon and looked back up at Mami.

"I didn't know you were into this kind of play."

Yeah, that attitude was probably getting really annoying. Rin should be taking their situation more seriously but it still looked under control so she didn't see a need to treat it seriously just yet. Besides, she wanted to see the look on Mami's face when she was surprised by Rin's greatness.

"When we get back to our apartment, I tell you all the things I am into, if that makes you feel any better." Mami didn't have a lot of time to talk or tease though, seeing how that shadow was getting bigger and bigger until a giant wooden train came crashing down on top of them. It was a good thing Mami was ready, picking up Rin and carrying her right out of the danger as the whole world seemed to shake.

Of course, it wasn't a normal train, with giant eyes on the front, and long sharp teeth where the cow pusher was supposed to be. It moved and turned in an impossible way, as the engines seemed to rev up, obviously planning on crashing into them.

"It will. But for the moment..."

You know, she really doesn't care for this ribbon thing. She focuses on reinforcing her wrists and easily uses her magic strength to rip herself out of it. Now, she didn't mind being carried so she didn't fight that. Instead, she just pulled out a gemstone and spoke in German under her breath. With a heavy toss, she flung it at where the train's wheels were on the ground. It impacted and exploded, coating everything around in ice.

"Let's see it move like that."

"Huh?" Mami quickly turned her head, feeling her magic being broken behind her. Had something come and attacked Rin?! Her eyes just flew open wide as she saw the girl break through her ribbons, stunned for the moment. She simply just watched Rin pull out that gem and throw it, seeing the area breaking out into ice, trapping the train who struggled against it.

Of course, without it moving, Mami would have the perfect show to blow away the witch with a single shot, but she's still a little stunned that Rin had magic!

"Are you going to do something or are you going to stare? Because if you're not, put me down so I can."

Sheesh. Rin huffed once, a little tinge of redness appearing on her face. Mostly because she's recognizing her position right now.

Mami quickly let Rin down onto the ground, still a little shocked by what she had seen. Where Rin seemed hardly upset about the magic around her, Mami was still surprised that Rin had her own secrets. But they couldn't wait around, that witch had to be dealt with.

"..Make sure you keep it rooted, I'm going to finish it off!" Mami nodded to Rin, hoping that she could do that much. The witch train was already fighting to get free after all. Mami was fast though, jumping onto the air, hovering for a moment, as she starts to summon her final attack.

Rin mumbled under her breath about Mami forcing her to waste her jewels when she had a perfectly good opportunity a few seconds ago. These were expensive, you know! She had to work her butt off just to buy one.

But despite her complaining, she didn't let her guard down. Nor did she let the witch move, wasting another jewel just to pile on more ice.

Those ribbons of her's soon formed into a giant cannon, pointing down at the Witch. Mami hadn't planned for things to do like this, but with Rin's help, taking the Witch down didn't look to be all that difficult. She summoned up all her strength to load that giant gun, yelling out, "Tiro Finale!" as it fired.

The entire inside of the barrier shook as that giant rifle fired. In an instant the entire train body of the witch was disintegrated, leaving behind nothing except a little black gem.

"Thanks for your help, Tohsaka-san.." Mami wasn't happy about how things had gone, but the Witch was dead, and she got a Grief Seed to purify her gem.

Rin watched the entire thing casually and gave a dismissive shrug when thanked. She'll get Mami back for this later, to be sure. Rin could certainly hold a grudge for way too long of a time.

"Yeah, yeah, anytime. Just don't try to lie to me again."
