[Sion and Akiha are....shopping. For food. Kohaku and Hisui were left at the mansion for whatever reason but this is SION/AKIHA time.
Sion, working on a budget, tries to grab for a cheap thing but a niggling feeling in the back of her mind says that Akiha will probably not approve. That doesn't stop her from trying to put the cheap canned tuna into her shopping basket.]
["The Director is bound to catch on if you keep insisting like that, Ciel."
That's what Merem told her with his usual angelic smile before he was treated to her version of the bird, but attitude problems with her co-worker set aside, she's well aware that as per usual, Crown DOES have a point. It just so happens that the Director owed her after the Einnashe incident. A report HAD to be made for poor Eins' death, and with her usual tampering, pushing the points that Ciel is well aware she well possesses, and abusing her authority and privileges like it's in the habit of any Agent, she walked away with a favor under her arms.
Which is why she's moseying about the Bavarian Alps right now, in Southern Germany. She last stopped at Berchtesgaden 2 days ago, now finding herself deep within the Obersalzberg retreat. ...Geez. It just had to be a morbid place like that, huh? She can't say to be surprised, though. There are flashy places around here like that big hotel, but the ruins deeper in would make for a good retreat for anyone who's looking to dodge society. Contact to the last team sent here was lost on their way to Berghof, so around there is where she's currently loitering at. Checking in with the population in Berchtesgaden revealed nothing particularly alarming, but she probably SHOULD exert some form of caution anyway. Dead Apostles always fancied Germany, but with a supposingly "far more imposing and lethal threat" lurking in these mountains of late, or so reports say, even the "most elite of task forces are advised to exercise the highest form of caution while traveling".
Well alright, then.
After a quick survey of the surroundings through some tree-hopping, Ciel finally settles for a relatively open clearing. She could be sniped from roughly 27 spots from where she stood, but she's not too worried. There was no report of long-range weaponry ever used by this ~mysterious killing force~, no smoke or bullets were ever left behind at places where they're reputed to have been.
So.
She stretches a hand towards the sky. A circle spreads out from under her feet. Her lips move, and within seconds, an arc of light is formed perpendicular to her arm. The bolt's target? The moon. Within seconds, a ray of light is shot upwards. It pierces through the thick cloud that obscured the starry sky, not unlike a reversed shooting star.
Are you watching the moon right now?
It'd be more work if she needs to do the WHOLE tracking, but if this can draw the 'true' targets out...
Hm, either way. That done, she'll hop back into a nearby tree and wait a bit. The night's still young, after all.]
[Indeed, he is always watching the moon at night. Wistfully, of course, but not completely lost in the sight of it.
But he's not the naive kid he used to be. On the other hand, he was certain that the creator of such an obvious thing was not out to get him by surprise. No, she probably just wanted to speak with him and speaking....speaking he was okay with. Even if Shiki was killing those Ciel might consider comrades, she wasn't the type to kill something she felt sentimental about without at least hearing thing out.
It took about an hour. He wasn't in a hurry and, instead, slowly walked towards where he felt the shot originated from. Navigating between trees while blind (he had taken the bandages off to watch the moon) wasn't terribly easy, even with his own mysterious sixth sense. When Shiki made it to the clearing, he could feel the residual power and knew this was the place.
Instead of calling out or waiting, he simply took a seat and waited. He was being watched, he knew, but he also knew that he could sense if there was an incoming attack so he relaxed a little.]
[He better not be the naive boy he used to be, or he's going to be the reason why it happens, if Ciel ever wakes up with a strand of white hair one morning. (Even if that pretty idealism was part of his charm, that she can't quite deny either.) Still, if he remembers 'senpai' - and he surely must, with the events of Einnashe having taken place not too long ago for them both, then he should already have a good idea of her true intentions. But really... Geez. Hasn't she already told him that if there was one person on Earth to whom she'd show her merciful side to, it's him? Sure, there MIGHT be circumstances in which she will engage in combat against him, but if any killing occurs, it won't be from her.
...
She silently breathes out to herself as she watches the familiar figure take a seat by a nearby log. It sure has been a while, and Merem isn't around to make smartass commentary tonight. Talk about a real blessing, hm?
--Ah, but she can't get carried away, now. This is still a mission, after all. Even if it was predestined to end in 'failure', it has to at least be a professionally acceptable one. ...Or 'politically correct', for those who fancy more sophisticated terms.
He'll hear - or feel? Eh, probably both - her descent. The soft crunch of hard-woven boots on twigs and leaves, followed by easy and familiar footsteps closing in from the side.]
It's a nice evening out tonight, isn't it Tohno-kun?
[It may have been a while too, since he was last spoken to in fluent Japanese. But shh, small indulgences in small moments of sentimentality, okay...]
[Uh oh. Sion never forgot anything but mishearing or simply not hearing something was definitely a problem. Or perhaps she intentionally forgot it, considering Akiha's current outfit.]
[Marisa was sitting sideways on a chair in the lounge, leafing through a book on her lap. Having pilfered the diary of one of her roommates, the witch had been reading it for the last hour. But it had reached the point where she just couldn't take reading anymore about the guy her roommate had been obsessed with in her world. And seriously, what kind of power was sparkling in the sunlight anyways?
While she contemplated how to tease her roommate over this the next time she saw her, or what prank to pull using some illusion magic, the witch contented herself by throwing star-shaped bullets at her best friend. Completely harmless magic, the stars bounced off the top of the chair to bop Reimu in the head. Over and over and over and over.
[Reimu was currently trying to sleep. But even that was getting more and more difficult. She put up with it for a while. Slowly but surely, though, she became more irritated as each one hit her.
Finally, she turned around and in a fit of rage, grabbed a star and bit it in half.]
[The surprise part had passed a long time ago. Now, from where they were, they could watch the sun setting over the pyramids. It wasn't a sight that Sion had seen all that often, despite the fact that she lived out here. That was the downside of being indoors most of one's life.
But she took the opportunity to lean on Akiha, preferring this moment to remain for quite a while.]
[Akiha sighed and shifted her hand so she could hook her pinky on Sion's.]
It was the only thing I think of for your birthday. I'd never seen the pyramids before and I wasn't sure the last time you were able to see Egypt without Atlas hanging over you.
[Shichika and Sion are training! He's just throwing in a few kicks and punches. For the most part Shichika's completely focused on this task at hand. Occasionally he'll pause to catch his breath. ]
Akiha looked up over the Death City newspaper she was reading a few seconds after the door to their condo closed. Whatever was going on, Sion clearly hadn't expected her to be home when the alchemist returned from wherever she'd been. So, something was up and the weird feeling drifting across their link made her curious.
"I got done at the Diner early today," she said casually, then shifted the newspaper to get a better look at her girlfriend. The angle of the light made it hard to tell if Sion was blushing or not, but Akiha's attention moved to the nondescript bag in Sion's hand. "What did you buy?"
She intensely held the bag behind her, clearly doing something rather suspicious. Akiha would see the contents at some point but, right now, they'd probably have to be pried from her cold, dead hands. Or just worked away from her.
Tonight would be better either way, right? If Akiha saw it now, she might want to try it out now and other people could be in this building. Awake.
( it's been several hours and maka was still studying and working on her schoolwork. she decided it would be easy to just go and be a head of her literature class since every little story has a little worksheet attached to it about the story in question. )
( maka pauses for a moment to stretch her arms and to pop her neck before hunching back over, concentrating heavily as she flips through the pages to find this said answer. )
[It was always hard being semi-social. But this person was working quite hard on whatever that is and, well, she thought she was pretty smart at least.]
After being relegated to the couch at night, Sion waited until Akiha was fast asleep. That was simple to do since she often stayed up late to work in her mini-lab. Once Akiha was soundly snoozing, Sion turned downed the thermostat to a severe degree and waited. It didn't take long for the apartment to drop to a pretty unbearable temperature.
And once she was shivering, in her pajamas, she sneakily went into their room, pulled up a cover, and climbed into bed. Sooner or later, Akiha would roll over, cling onto her, and that would be Sion's victory. While waiting for that, Sion tried her best to drift off.]
[Akiha wasn't thrilled with being alone in the bed, but she was refusing to give in. Sion had brought this upon herself anyways.
Sill, the alchemist's ploy worked... to an extent. Initially. Akiha hated the cold and with the temperature dropping, she instinctively gravitated toward the source of heat. She was there, up against Sion, for a good five minutes before her mind registered the presence of her partner.
Eyes blinked open and she stared at Sion for a long moment. And then anger flared up and she literally shoved her girlfriend out of the bed, using both hands and feet.]
You don't have permission to come back to the bed.
[Sion sat at the edge of the bed, feet dangling off the edge. There wasn't anything she could think of doing right now, with all the stress that was on both her and Akiha.
Yes, Sion couldn't think of something. It was a surprise to anyone and it wasn't like Akiha was out of the loop in terms of knowing that.]
[Akiha walked back into the bedroom to join Sion and then just flopped onto her back. One hand moved to cover her eyes and the other hung off the side.]
How do you fix it when everything you've been thinking about starts jumbling together into a big incoherent ball of thought?
GUESS WHO
KRIS???????
Sion, working on a budget, tries to grab for a cheap thing but a niggling feeling in the back of her mind says that Akiha will probably not approve. That doesn't stop her from trying to put the cheap canned tuna into her shopping basket.]
*PUNCHES*
Akiha goes still as she turns to put some fresh vegetables into the basket (because of course Sion is carrying that).]

totally making this in-game canon
Akiha looked up over the Death City newspaper she was reading a few seconds after the door to their condo closed. Whatever was going on, Sion clearly hadn't expected her to be home when the alchemist returned from wherever she'd been. "I got done at the Diner early today," she said casually, then shifted the newspaper to get a better look at her girlfriend. The angle of the light made it hard to tell if Sion was blushing or not, but Akiha's attention moved to the nondescript bag in Sion's hand. "What did you buy?"
